Mame 0.149 roms 2013-08-05, 7:47 PM MAME (an acronym of Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is an emulator application designed to recreate the hardware of arcade game systems in software on modern personal computers and other platforms. As of version 0.162 MAME absorbed its sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System) which means it is also capable of playing games for classic game consoles. Although MAME is a 'command-line' application, as of version 0.171, you will get a simple 'DOS-like' menu when you open it where you can do the usual things of selecting games. MAMEUI 0.149.1: Description: MAMEUI, formerly MAME32, is the GUI version of MAME. Originally authored in 1997 by Chris Kirmse, it was the first port of MAME™ to the Windows platform. MAMEUI is currently in maintenance mode with no active development taking place. It is still compiled and released when there is no breakage with the core. MAME, or the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, tackles the problem faced for those nostalgia-driven gamers. MAME, which was first released in 1997, is the world’s most renowned arcade emulator. MAME enjoys this position for a very good reason – for arcade emulation, you can do no better than with MAME.

As console gaming became the video gaming platform of choice for many game developers and players, the golden age of the arcade could have easily been forgotten. From Pacman and Space Invaders to Outrun and Street Fighter, the arcade games that cropped up throughout the eighties kept millions of teenagers happy. Despite the advances in computer technology, the feeling of nostalgia connected with these arcade classics is immeasurable. If only there was a way to revisit them on your computer.

Conclusion: It is hard to write a bad word against MAME; for those who want arcade emulation there is no better option than the emulator, which is fast-becoming as classic as the games it helps emulate. For a small project born over fifteen years ago, MAME has become a household name in the emulation software market.
